My name is
Michael Nielsen, I am 23 years old and applying for the
Bachelor in Computer Graphic Arts. I am currently attending the media-school
here in Viborg. I was born in Odense but moved to Viborg in August 2012.
I always had a big interest in computer games and the film industry but my interest in drawing started because of Warhammer. I love the fantasy universe and like to create scenery based on that universe.
However I was introduced to Photoshop when I started at the gymnasium(HTX) where I studied IT/communication and design and I have been working with Photoshop ever since.
My interest in drawing changed after I began to create digital paintings.
It made me more interested in concept art.
After the gymnasium I took a year off and moved to Australia for half a year.
I began reading a lot about the school and looked through drawings and portfolios made by students. I realized how much commitment and skill it would require to get into the school, and I started to take drawing very serious.
I applied
for the CGA bachelor in 2011 to see how hard it was to get in.
I felt The Drawing Academy was a must for me if I ever wanted a chance of getting into the school. So I attended the fall semester 2012.
I chose Mads Peter as my teacher, and he helped my understanding of construction and anatomy.
Besides
learning about constructive drawing at the drawing academy I got insight into
how the school is in general and how much fun you can have while studying. The
TDA semester has been the best time of my life and has made me even more
committed to getting into the CGA bachelor.
I now strive
to become a concept artist with a strong environment portfolio.
Today I get
a lot of my inspiration from Feng Zhu and his students from the FZD school in Singapore.
My wish come true would be to work as an environment concept artist for Santa Monica
studios in Los Angeles.
I
want to design and create environments and characters for films and games in
the future which is why I’m applying for CGA.
